Yuri quietly checks Vitaly into a drug rehabilitation clinic and continues his business alone.
Vitaly becomes addicted to cocaine after a Colombian drug lord forces the brothers to accept several kilos of cocaine to pay for an arms sale of numerous Glock 17 pistols. Valentine represents a unique threat to Yuri because he is after glory, not money, and thus cannot be bought off. As Yuri begins to prosper by exploiting his growing network of business connections, he comes to the attention of Interpol and in particular, an idealistic agent named Jack Valentine ( Ethan Hawke). The two brothers get their first big break during the 1982 Lebanon War, where they sell weapons to both Israeli and Lebanese troops despite witnessing the same weapons being used to commit war crimes and other atrocities. After successfully completing his first sale of an Uzi sub machine gun to a local mobster, Yuri convinces his younger brother, Vitaly ( Jared Leto), to become his partner. The incident inspires him to go into the arms trade Yuri muses that the constant need for weapons is similar to the human need for food and drink, thus he can make a fortune. This drama marked the end of an eight-year career that saw so many brilliant performance in drama and in comedy.In the early 1980s, Yuri Orlov ( Nicolas Cage), the eldest son of a family of Ukrainian refugees, is visiting a Brighton Beach restaurant, where he witnesses a Russian mobster kill two would-be assassins holding Kalashnikov rifles. Billy would go on to raise three fine children but sadly passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack age 60, in 1989. Forget about the budgetary restraints for many, the poverty row studios offered a freedom unknown to major studio efforts. A fine and final performance as Billy plays the long-suffering son of an alcoholic father he can never stop loving. This is a good realist film, compassionate without being maudlin, and not without a hard edge of social realism. This is thanks both to the many people who have posted all of his films online but also because of the way Youtube can provide a higher profile than existed during an actor's actual career. Billy Lee is only now in recent years finally achieving recognition as one of the greatest child actors in American film. For the star of THE BISCUIT EATER and so many other films this was his final performance.
